We’re thrilled to share a positive development from Udgir tehsil, a region historically challenged by severe summer water scarcity. Thanks to the impactful Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan, residents are experiencing a significant change, with reservoirs across the tehsil holding ample water this season.
Adding to this encouraging news, we’re inspired by a remarkable community-led initiative spearheaded by Adv Aditi Patil Kaulkhedkar and Omkar Jayashri Ganjure. Their innovative ‘seed ball’ concept has mobilized hundreds of students who are actively creating and distributing these balls – a mixture of clay, compost, water, and seeds – near hills, lakes, and ponds. This ingenious approach aims to naturally increase vegetation, enhancing the land’s ability to capture and retain rainwater. We believe this grassroots effort, combined with larger-scale initiatives, holds immense promise for a greener, drought-resilient future for Udgir. It’s heartening to witness such proactive engagement from the community, and we commend the dedication of the youth leaders and the enthusiastic participation of the students in working towards a sustainable Udgir.
